HML at American Visionary Art Museum

Interact is pleased to announce that HML will present work in Flaunt: When Appearance Speaks, an exhibition at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Flaunt is the museum's 31st major thematic exhibition, featuring 100 works from twelve artists working across drawing, portraiture, photography, fiber, wearable form, and sculpture, often using transformed everyday materials like buttons, pipe cleaners, and bark. In a twist on conventional thinking, Flaunt asks visitors not to go below the surface, but rather to examine how much feeling, invention, humor, protection, and self-authorship are right in front of our eyes.
The exhibition includes several accomplished artists from progressive art studios, like HML (Interact) and Montrel Beverly (SAGE Studio in Austin, TX) as well as internationally recognized artists like Lee Godie and Eugene Von Bruenchenhein. It is curated by Gage Branda, with advising by Jennifer Gilbert and Cléa Massiani.
