Katie Bretzman describes her quilt-like drawings asaerial views of living spaces and scenes fromhome. To make her drawings, she carefully repeats aseries of vertical marks, using a systematic rotation of thesame markers throughout a piece. In these intimatestudies, each one about the size of a blueprint, Bretzmanmeditates on her own experiences in domestic spacesand built environments. Her playful choice of color anduse of pattern invite the viewer to wander across theimage, traversing patches of lime, magenta, deep blue, and inhabiting Bretzman's prismatic scenes.
Bretzman has shown work at Interact Gallery. In early 2024, she will present work in a two-person exhibition at Inver Hills Community College's Gallery 120.
