Michael Engebretson named muralist for 2023 Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival
Creative Enterprise Zone and Interact are pleased to announce that Creative Enterprise Zone has named Michael Engebretson a Guest Artist in the 2023 Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival.
The Creative Enterprise Zone is a city-recognized district and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. CEZ works to attract and retain creative people and businesses, to prevent creative displacement through acquisition of real estate, and to foster a more vibrant and connected creative community through public space activations.
Every year, CEZ teams up with Forecast Public art to host Chroma Zone Art & Mural Festival, which is the first of its kind in Minnesota. Michael Engebretson, who has practiced at Interact since 2016, is one of eight artists creating new murals this year. His vibrant work maps a future existence beyond Earth called a Class Five civilization. "Class Five inhabitants are transdimensional, multiversal, nonlinear space-time continuum thinkers," he says. "They are more free-thinking than we are. They are open to any possibility, any idea, any conversation, any scenario."
Engebretson's mural, Cosmic Higher Class Dimensional Origins, will reside indefinitely at 2147 University Avenue in Saint Paul. It will be officially unveiled during the festival, which runs from September 14 - 16, 2023. Engebretson will also present three works in the 2023 Chroma Zone Pop-Up Exhibit at NewStudio Architecture & Gallery alongside other Chroma Zone muralists and alumni.
